A cry for safety from students of Ho Technical University.

Local News

Our students deserve a safe environment in order to live and learn but unfortunately, the dangers of this present time are getting out of hand.

Gone are the good old days where one could walk freely in the evening without fear.

It’s sad how the students of Ho Technical University are sacred to walk out even at 7 pm because of some recent incidents that have occurred in the Southern part of Ho Technical University( Ho University Southern Gate).

An innocent girl on the 4th of October was attacked by an unknown attacker, where her phone was taken and wounded on the face by this person. She was later sent to the theatre for treatment because the wound was deep.

A student of the University of Health and Allied Science on the 12th of October was countlessly stabbed by a band of people because he refused to release his laptop and phone to them.

In addition, it has been alleged that the current Vice President of the HTU SRC was also pursued by an attacker but he managed to escape to his hostel safely.

This has led to the restriction of students to go to the campus to study in the evening and even when they do, they end up sleeping in the study places and leave for their hostels when day breaks.

Students are therefore with a plead calling upon School Authorities to act and make sure they are safe especially around the below-mentioned hostels and halls.

  1. Adaklu hall
  2. Mawuli hostel and all other hostels close to the campus and outside the campus.

They ask earnestly for the Ghana Police Service in Ho to provide patrol teams around those areas at night.

Students’ lives matter!!!
