The Ghana Education Service (GES) has directed Head of Basics Schools across the country not to conduct end of term examinations.

The GES says Heads of Basic School and Teachers should use class exercises and class tests to assess their students.

In a circular signed by Deputy Director-General of the GES, Dr. Kwabena Bempah Tandoh, students are to focus on making grounds on academic work.

This follows the disruption of academic work because of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Following the reopening of schools for the 2021 academic year, management directed all KG to JHS students to participate in recovery learning.”

“Headteachers and teachers are to use class exercises and class tests to assess pupils,” the Service said in the circular.

Basic school students from Kindergarten (KG) to Junior High School (JHS) only resumed their classroom activities on January 15, 2021.

This was after a 10-month break.
