WAFA vs OLYMPICS

Wafa finally notched their 2nd away victory of the campaign after 10 attempts putting Berekum Chelsea to sword. This tags along with they earning maximum points from 2 consecutive league outings for the 2nd time this campaign. They remain clear of the relegation fight for now. However, having netted in all but one home game, they sit equal top for the highest number of home goals conceded table (10). Rather ironically, they have let in just one goal in their last 5 games at their fancied Sogakope Park where they host title contenders Great Olympics.

Olympics themselves, despite suffering a minor slump in form remain just 2 points off the top of the table and have little room for errors from now till the season climaxes. The Dade boys shot themselves up the table with a win over Liberty Professionals last weekend and will be bolstered by what a victory will do to their title charge; one they chase after 47 years since they last won it. It has been 1 win and 4 losses in their last 5 away trips. That despite, they sit 2nd on the ‘away’ league table.

A trip away to WAFA is almost certainly an impossible ask.  No less, they are yet to win after 3 attempts at the said venue. But with Olympics in full force for the title, this could be hard to call.

KOTOKO vs DREAMS FC

The porcupine warriors needed a response in their last outing at their former home ground, pipped Legon Cities by a goal to nil to capture all three points. Though the win was vital, it was not enough to lift them back to the top of the table, as Medeama stood in their way. A burgeoning rivalry against Dreams FC will see another installment play out at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium. Augustine Okrah seems to be having a good time up front with scintillating combinations with Brazilian playmaker, Fabio Gama. There looks to be a sign of more things to come between that duo.

The believers will travel to Obuasi in high spirits, after their giant killing feat against Accra Hearts of Oak. Amongst all they will have in their arsenal, confidence will be one of those assets. Massaudu Abdulai kept things solid at the back and even prevented an embarrassment with a goal-line clearance against the phobians. His sibling, Huzaif was at the other end of the pitch ensuring that the victory was secured. He will definitely be a threat to Kotoko’s backline on Saturday.

LIBERTY vs MEDEAMA

Liberty professionals’ longest winning run (3) in almost 2 calendar years came to a grinding halt with a 2-0 defeat to Olympics. Despite that, the scientific soccer lads have managed to leapfrog themselves out of the relegation zone; testament of the great works by Coach Andy Sinason since his appointment. Goalscoring has also been a major factor to their meteoric rise, netting 7 times in 4 games with just a single shut out. Their sharp upturn will need to tell when they square up against table toppers and title contenders Medeama SC.

The Yellow and Mauves have yet to put a foot wrong in their last 4 games coming off untainted: with 4 wins in 4 especially after taking maximum points from fellow title contenders in Asante Kotoko and Dreams FC. As a matter of fact, they have won 7 times in their last 9 games losing and drawing once each, then drawing blank once during this mazy run.  By far, the best form put up by any side this season.

However, away from home remains a hurdle for Medeama who have secured a meager 12 points from a possible 33. They play away to a side who are equally on form. Despite this fixture being held at a ‘neutral’ ground where the hosts have already been successful once, history suggests this could go either way with Medeama’s regularly indifferent form away to Liberty Professionals.

DWARFS vs LEGON CITIES

Ebusua Dwarfs will welcome Legon Cities to the Robert Mensah Stadium for a game week 23 encounter. Dwarfs have been inconsistent this season and their recent form has not been impressive, winning one out of their 5 previous matches.  The mysterious Boys will look to do a league double over their opponent as they won away from home in their game week 6 encounter.

Legon cities are in danger of being relegated if they not things turn things around quickly. They will have their work cut out for them when they come face to face with Dwarfs. Legon Cities have not fared well away from home, winning just one. Against a Dwarfs side who have the tendencies of turning on the style at home, Legon Cities will have to be defensively resolute and take their chances upfront if they are to take anything away from this game week.

KARELA vs BECHEM UNITED

Karela will lock horns with Bechem United in a game week 23 fixture at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park. Diawisie Taylor, the top marksman for Karela will be expected to lead his side to victory in this tricky encounter. Coach Evans Adotey will need to find a remedy for his side’s poor run of form as they are losing touch with the league leaders and any plans of reclaiming the top spot they occupied before the break.

Bechem United will relish playing Karela at this time as the opponent seems to be lacking in confidence. Bechem won by 2 goals to 1 in their earlier meeting at the beginning of the season, a result they will be hoping to replicate when the two sides meet again. A win for them will see them move above the Karela into 6th place.

ADUANA STARS vs BEREKUM CHELSEA

The fire boys succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against Elmina Sharks in match day 22. That aside, their fourth defeat in six games came in that same encounter. They have dropped from the top half of the table into 10th place. That does not help their title chances in any way. That notwithstanding, they remain formidable at home and will seek to make amends from their fortress, the Nana Agyeman Badu Park in Dormaa.

Berekum-based Chelsea are deficient of confidence at the moment, as their losing streak will extend to three on the trot, if they leave Dormaa without a point. In view of that, objectives will have to shift from targeting a top four position to survival. They are just four points from the relegation positions, with wins by Eleven Wonders and Liberty Professionals possibly sinking them into 15th position.

INTER ALLIES vs ELMINA SHARKS

It is a battle of two teams finding themselves in the second half of the table. Sharks come into this game with extremely high spirits after their comeback victory against the Miners last week. They are fortunate to have their chief tactician Odartey Lamptey back to the team after a short break. Sharks will be looking forward to press harder on the already relegated side. They sit just six points above the relegation zone and will be looking forward to grabbing all three points. What will be of concern to the Elmina based club is their poor form in away matches having lost all three of their last away fixtures.

Inter Allies on the other hand will be looking forward for their second victory in their newly found home, Theatre of Dreams in Dawu. They managed to beat then second placed team Karela United at home in Matchday 19 but lost to King Faisal on that same grounds last week. Inter Allies though out from the league next season will be expecting to bounce back to winning ways to excite their fan base.

ASHGOLD vs ELEVEN WONDERS

AshantiGold finally taste defeat after four games in the League. Elmina Sharks proved to be stubborn customers for the Miners as they were not intimidated in their Match Day 22 fixture. The Miners have been able to tighten their defense since the resumption of the league, after conceding just 3 goals in the last 5 matches. They will be psyched up to bounce back to winning ways as they come lock horns with Eleven Wonders who have won only one match in their last five matches.

Techiman Eleven Wonders return to winning ways after recording two losses and two draws in their previous 4 matches. They produced a masterclass performance to defeat Aduana Stars 2-1. Looking to build momentum, their next match will see them come up against AshantiGold in Obuasi. Can they make it two wins in a row, or will AshantiGold burst their bubble?

HEARTS OF OAK vs KING FAISAL

Accra Hearts of Oak must bounce back from the defeat in their last game, if they have any intention of battling to win the league this season. Coach Samuel Boadu and his boys have not been consistent in their performances with just 2 wins in their last five matches played. They currently sit 4th on the log with 34 points, just five points behind leaders Medeama SC. They come up against relegation threatened side, King Faisal in this fixture and must make sure they get the job done to ease the pressure off the team.

This fixture does come as one of the toughest for King Faisal as they battle relegation. The team has been in the relegation zone for a large part of the season and an upset against Hearts can briefly move them out of the relegation zone and offer them some respite as they have some tough fixtures lined up after this. They currently lie 17th with 23 points and must show character if indeed they want to stay in this league. It is a make or break for Alhaji Grunsah’s team.
