WAFA vs LEGON CITIES

WAFA came away with a shimmering win away at Medeama last time out, breaking the title chasers’ duck of an unbeaten home streak all season, making it 4 wins in the last 6 matches. Coach Proposer Ogum has gotten his lads playing not too rosy football but brave enough to put a marker down on their fearless credentials. After losing their home invincibility to Olympics at the Sogakope Park 2 matchdays ago, they are tasked to beat a Legon Cities side who sit just a place above relegation places. Man in form, Enock Esubonteng has 3 goals in as many matches. Another goal in this encounter will make him the first player to achieve a feat of 4 goals in 4 consecutive games this season.

A win over Liberty Professionals during midweek kept hopes alive for the relegation entrenched Legon Cities. It helped them move up the ladder as their guests on the day switched positions with them. Every game from now will serve as a reminder of how much a win is requisite for their survival. To start with, Coach Bashir Hayford needs to mastermind a win over an opponent that leaves nothing at stake. And to worsen matters, the Royals have just a solitary away win all season and have not kept a clean sheet on their last 5 travels. It has been 4 visits to the Sogakope Park and has yet to be a win for them. Another chapter of mission impossible?

ASHANTIGOLD vs GREAT OLYMPICS

Results for AshantiGold have gone from bad to worse following their loss to Berekum Chelsea in Matchday 24. Languishing on the 10th position on the league table, they will be dragged into the relegation battle if their performances do not improve. With their next match at home against Great Olympics, they have an opportunity to turn the tide and produce results that will let them finish the season on a stronger note.

Oly Dade, the landowners of Accra, top title aspirations got a reality check after their shocking loss to Aduana Stars. Four points separate them and current league leaders Asante Kotoko, who are determined to win the league for the first time since the 2014/15 season. Their fixture in Match day 25 is a tough match against Ashanti Gold. Two giants of Ghana football locking horns at the Len Clay stadium, with one club on a path to win the league title.

Will Olympics return to Accra with all three points?

KING FAISAL vs BECHEM UNITED

King Faisal’s woes continue as they are deeply rooted in the relegation zone of the table and only a miracle can get them out of that zone. Their run of unluck results and some poor performances account for their current position. They have only 1 win in their last five games. That win came against fellow relegation fighters Inter Allies who they pipped 1 nil away from home. Survival looks like an impossible task for them but a win against Bechem United might inspire a dramatic fight for survival.

Bechem United are yet to recover from that painful 1 nil loss to Hearts of Oak in match day 24 at home, making it their first home loss of the season and a broken eight-year unbeaten record against them. Bechem United themselves are poor travelers having won only once away from home all season. This will be a tough clash for them as their opponents with all their “troubles” always make it hard for any team that plays against them. This is a must win for the “Hunters” to appease their fans back home in Bechem.

LIBERTY vs KOTOKO

After a brief upsurge in form since the arrival of coach Andy Sinason, Liberty Professionals have like the start of the season lost their swagger again with no wins in 3 games. The scientific soccer lads look to be suffering a deep-rooted problem which could send them down into lower division. At their new home away from home (The Sogakope Park) they have won one and drawn one with no goal conceded. A new home that seems to suit their style of play backed by their records on the grounds even when they have played against the original owners WAFA. Liberty are in dire need of a win as they lie 16th, and are pressed into sustaining their stay in the top flight. Against Kotoko who they have beaten just once in their last 5 encounters, this seems a hard ask on the Dansoman based side.

Asante Kotoko, meanwhile, continue their remarkable upward trajectory with 3 wins in 3, top of the league and 4 points adrift 2nd place. It is the first time this season the Kumapem Boys have strung 3 wins in a row. A sign indicating coach Mariano Barreto seems to have stamped his philosophy into the team. Kotoko have lost once away from home all season and remain the best side on the road. Captain and old gun Emmanuel Gyamfi who looked to have lost his spark at the season’s start now has 3 goals in 4 games, coming alive just at the right team his team needed him. In those 3 wins, Kotoko have scored 6 goals culminating 22% of their entire goals this season. Another delight for Coach Barreto who had been worried about his team’s goal shy performances.

KARELA vs ELEVEN WONDERS

Karela united will host Eleven Wonders in Anyinase in a game week 25 match up on Sunday. The host will fancy themselves at home coming into this match. They are still a formidable side at home despite their impressive home record being broken by Kotoko. Karela are still to recapture their form from the beginning of the season that saw top the league table. They have only managed a win in their last 5 games.  They currently sit 5th on the league table with 38 points.

Eleven wonders seem to enjoy playing with karela as they have not lost in their 3 previous encounters, but Coach Ignatius Osei-Fosu will have to keep his boys grounded and focused. Eleven Wonders lie 14th on the league, just two point above the relegation drop zone. The match will be keenly contested as claiming the precious 3 points could shape the outcome of their season.

ADUANA vs MEDEAMA SC

Ask anyone at the start of this season to name the Top 4 teams in Ghana and you are sure to get these two teams in it. Both teams were potential league winners. They have great quality, experience players, best coaches, and some of the finest players in the league.

Medeama has enjoyed some weeks at the top of the table whiles the inconsistent runs of matches for Aduana has seen them below the Top 6. Medeama comes into this game after their disappointing loss against WAFA in Sogakope. A game they were expected to win to keep the one-point difference between them and the league leaders Kotoko. Nevertheless, the Mauve and Yellow Army has the finest of attackers in the league and they will approach the game with every arsenal they have. Trust Prince Opoku Agyeman to increase his goal tally in this game.

Aduana came back home from Accra with a massive comeback victory over Accra Great Olympics. Despite their goal scoring prowess, the Dormaa based side has so far conceded 33 goals this season. (Only King Faisal and Bechem United have conceded more).

It is three points up for grabs and there is certainty that both teams will keep their composure at the back.

INTER ALLIES vs BEREKUM CHELSEA

Bottom side Inter Allies welcome Berekum Chelsea in match day 25. The quest for redemption for the Tampico boys continues. They have gathered 4 points from their last two games, 6 points away from safety. With King Faisal and Liberty, fellow strugglers, facing formidable opposition in Bechem United and Kotoko respectively, grounds can be gained this week if they can maneuver their way around the Berekum Chelsea challenge. Mohammed Zakari got a goal against Eleven Wonders and will be called upon to deliver the goods for the eleven is to one side.

The Berekum lads have not had their star shining this season. That notwithstanding, players like Stephen Amankona have not performed poorly, per their current standard. The trip to Accra may seem to be less challenging, considering the opposition. Chelsea have all it takes to bring down Inter Allies but must be wary of a struggling foe, who will be desperate to get something out of that game.

HEARTS OF OAK vs ELMINA SHARKS

Accra Hearts of Oak continue to gather momentum after that significant away win against Bechem United in their last game. That was their first win against Bechem at Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park since 2013. They currently lie 2nd on the log and are four points behind bitter rivals Asante Kotoko, who sit atop of the league. Hearts have a 100% record at home since Samuel Boadu took charge of the team and they are making a statement about how poised they are to fight for the title this season.

Elmina Sharks under the charge of Nii Odartey Lamptey have been decent and are yet to taste defeat at home. However, they are poor travelers with no win away from home all season. In their last match against Karela at home, they drew 1-1, with Benjamin Boateng grabbing the equalizer for them. The “Fearsome Sharks” have a tough job on their hands in this fixture as the teams in the lower half of the table fight tooth and nail to avoid the drop.

EBUSUA DWARFS vs DREAMS FC

The cape coast mysterious boys will take on Dreams Fc in a game week 25 encounter. Dwarfs took the lead in their match against Asante Kotoko but two goals from the league leaders’ Emmanuel Gyamfi saw the home side take all the points. Dwarfs will be aiming to avoid a relegation battle as the season nears its end. Dwarfs lost by 2 goals to nil in their game week 8 match and will be out for blood as they lock horns in this match up.

Dreams FC will have their work cut out for them as they come up against Dwarfs. Dreams have an impressive win record over dwarfs with 4 wins out of their 7 previous meeting. Dreams are still in the mix to challenge for the league title but will have to keep a good run of result going if they are to have a real shot at the title. They took King Faisal to the cleaners in their midweek meeting, beating them by 3 goal to nil.
