The member of parliament of Assin Central Constituency and the CEO of Kencity Media Ltd., Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, on Tuesday July 21, 2020, confirmed that he was infected with COVID-19 some few weeks ago.

The outspoken parliamentarian confirmed that in an interview with an Assin Fosu – based radio station, Nkwa Fm, on Tuesday morning when he was called to give his advice to the people of Assin and its environs on how to curb the spread of the pandemic disease.

He said that, he suspects contracting the disease either on his birthday or through visiting some patients at the various hospitals that he generously donated some PPEs to in his quest to help fight the deadly corona virus.

“Were you people not surprised to have not seen a whole me visiting the various registration centers in my constituency during the voter registration exercise? I had then tested positive for the disease and was being managed in my house by health personnel”, he explained.

The parliamentarian then shared with the public the difficulties he went through as symptoms of the COVID-19. He explained that, he had difficulties breathing especially at nights and could not have a comfortable living for even a second without the air conditioner. He also had fever as his body temperature rose higher among other uncomfortable conditions.

He however confirmed that, to God be the glory, he has now tested negative for the COVID-19 after two consecutive tests on him recently.

He finally gave his piece of advice to the people of Assin and the general public that, COVID-19 is real, and so nobody should ever underrate the potential infection of the disease. He urged everybody to try possibly to observe the various protocols laid down to curb the spread of the disease. He finally advised against stigmatization on part of the public to the recovered victims as he said it is a very bad habit to display.

Meanwhile, Ghana now has total confirmed cases of COVID-19 at 28,430 with recovery number of cases at 24,901. However, there are unfortunate confirmed cases of deaths at 153 with active confirmed cases of 3,376 according to the Ghana Health Service’s update on Tuesday 21st July, 2020.
