KUMASI ASANTE KOTOKO VS ASHANTI GOLD FC

In arguably the top-liner for match day 10, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, fresh from their 1-0 win over Dreams FC in Dawu will lock horns with their regional neighbours. The two teams may be handicapped in their own ways: Kokoto will be without their fans as they serve their last ban at home while AshGold’s coach has been asked to step aside due to the invalidity of the Turk’s coaching license.

Both teams won their last league games, are tied on 17 points apiece and are separated by a lone goal difference. This will be a game of high stakes and minimal difference between the quality and display of both local giants. Coach Maxwell Konadu is wary of the threat his opponents bring and he intends to strategize to outwit them. AshGold on the other hand have nothing to lose and with an empty stadium in Kumasi, the last of the match bans for Kotoko, the Aboakese lads will seek to make it count.

WAFA VS DREAMS FC

An interesting tie by all standards, the two teams who rely on youth and are purveyors of the academy type of football will come into the game with mixed fortunes from their last games. WAFA held Kumasi based King Faisal FC and Dreams FC did not have their dreams come true against Kotoko as they slumped to a defeat at home.

WAFA, the nearest to the top 5 teams, who have 17 points, will seek to edge closer to that top pack and possibly find a way there as Kotoko (4th) face AshGold (3rd). The Sogakope lads have recorded just one win in their last seven games, drawing five times in the process. Dreams FC will be without Dentani Amadu who saw red in their last game at home. Notwithstanding that, both teams seem to be on an even keel as six points have been won in the last five games from both sides.

LEGON CITIES VS ACCRA GREAT OLYMPICS

Legon Cities FC are a point above the relegation zone and will be desperate to avoid a relegation dog fight as they face local rivals Accra Great Olympics. With two wins in nine, “The Royals” will aim to make it three wins out of ten. Legon Cities will have to make home advantage count as their two victories have been at home.

Olympics will fancy themselves in this fixture as they will be playing at a venue they call home, though they are the away team on record. Their most recent win was away at Kumasi in a seven-goal thriller against King Faisal. Having tasted the delight in winning away from home, the “Oly Dade Boys” will look to add Legon Cities to the list of teams conquered away from Home. A derby fixture that will not be short of the excitement, drama, thrills and fun.

ELEVEN WONDERS VS KING FAISAL BABES FC

On the back of an away win, Eleven Wonders will look to build on the momentum as they head into game week 10. On paper this should be an easy win for Eleven Wonders and anything short of a victory will be a disappointing result for them as they face the team at the bottom of the league.

King Faisal are without a win in nine matches this season (the only team without a win so far in the league campaign). Another defeat will heap more misery on the “Babes”. King Faisal will have nothing to lose and will go all out in search of their first win of the season.

MEDEAMA SC VS ELMINA SHARKS

Match week 10 presents us with a seemingly straight win for 2nd placed Medeama SC against 10th placed Elmina Sharks. The home team currently has won four out of four home games. A good win will push the home team back to the summit of the league. This, coupled with the presence of their home fans is enough motivation. Elmina Sharks although coming into the game with a win from their previous match, will have the odds against them when they visit the fortress Akoon Park in Tarkwa. Playing against a title contender as an away team, expectations may not be in their favour.

One thing the away side can hope to do is to replicate the giant killing feat against Berekum Chelsea in their last game. Medeama will underestimate the Elmina based team at their own peril.

LIBERTY PROFESSIONALS VS ADUANA FC

The Dansoman based Liberty Professionals will face off with the joint league leaders Aduana stars come  match week 10. Liberty lost by a goal to nil in their previous fixture against AshGold. Despite an impressive second half display by the scientific soccer Lads, Appiah McCarthy’s spot kick in the first half for AshGold was the decider on the day.

The visiting team, Aduana Stars, was held to a stalemate by Accra Hearts of Oak at Dormaa in match week 9. It was a match of high precision and the tenacity and technical abilities of both coaches were put to test. Aduana are statistically favorites for this match against Liberty. They have lost just a game from their past five games and are looking to bounce back to winning ways from two disappointing games. Striker Bright Adjei is back from injury and most likely to start upfront with the joint top scorer Yahya Mohammed. They will have to deal with the possessive play of the scientific soccer lads if they will take anything away from the Carl Reindorf Park.

HEARTS OF OAK VS BECHEM UNITED

On Sunday, Accra Hearts of Oak host Bechem United at the Accra Sports Stadium. The Phobians Home form is nothing to write home about. They have been able to pick up only 4 points out of a maximum 12 points at Home. For a side who are looking at Lifting the trophy at the end of the season, they have to start churning results soon or they can kiss their title aspirations goodbye.

Bechem United are the League’s worst travelling side. They haven’t won a game away from home and that bad form looks set to continue this weekend against the Phobians who seek to make amends at home. Bechem have failed to score in their last two games. Things aren’t looking too good for them until they start getting better results away from Home.

EBUSUA DWARFS VS KARELA UNITED

Two teams who are struggling this season, battle it out in a relegation zone fight. With both teams on only two wins so far this season and separated by just 2 points, it is going to be a “do or die” affair. Ebusua Dwarfs recently recorded a shock win at home against Aduana Stars and are prepared to repeat this feat.

Karela United haven’t looked bright in their away fixtures but will be in high spirits after playing a 1-1 draw game at home against city rivals Medeama SC. Despite the presence of the likes of Diawise Taylor in their ranks, they do not boast a killer instinct and their build up play has looked pale, apart from when they trounced LEgon Cities FC in match day 7.

BEREKUM CHELSEA VS INTER ALLIES FC

Berekum Chelsea come into this game as wounded lions, following a shock defeat to a less fancied Elmina Sharks on match day 9. With an impressive home record so far this season, they will settle for nothing but a win to possibly go back to the top of the table. With the first 5 teams currently locked on 17 points on the table, this home fixture presents a perfect opportunity for coach Joseph Asare Bediako and his boys to consolidate their position among the best teams in the country.

Inter Allies face a herculean task ahead of this clash. Only two teams have managed to draw at the fortress of their opponents. With their talisman Victorian Adebayor who is joint leading scorer of the season, getting a point or even all three points will not be considered out of reach.
