Muntari to play for Asante Kotoko?

Ghana international Sulley Muntari has expressed interest in joining Asante Kotoko FC as he inches closer to the end of his career.

There had been widespread rumours that Muntari had agreed to join Hearts of Oak earlier this year but the move somewhat fell through in something that looked like a winding transfer story.

Muntari professed his love for the Kumasi-based Ghana giants in a live chat on video networking site, Instagram.

“I love Kotoko. They tried signing me when l was a young player in Kumasi,” Muntari said.

He added: “I would love to retire with them, but l would not rule out Hearts, RTU [Real Tamale United], King Faisal or Liberty Professionals.”

The UEFA Champions League winner has been unattached to any club since leaving Spanish second outfit, Albacete.

The rumours of him heading to Hearts stemmed from the times he spent training with the club while on visits to Ghana.

Muntari was a player of Liberty Professionals in Dansoman before he sped off to join Udinese in 2002.

The midfielder has had a trophy-laden career that has taken him from the south coast of England in Portsmouth to Milan in Italy, to Spain and then Saudi Arabia.

Muntari was also an influential figure in all of Ghana’s teams that played at the World Cup in 2006, 2010 and 2014.
