RTU VS ELMINA SHARKS
The pride of the north, send smiles of pride on the faces of their fans in match day 8, when they held title aspirants, Kotoko to a 1-1 draw in the back yard of the latter. The spirited display could have grabbed all 3 points for RTU. David Abagna sends his tally to 7 goals this season and continues to remain a reliable outlet for the much needed goals for RTU’s survival.
Elmina Sharks tried all they could but had to succumb to the might of the defending champions, Hearts of Oak, giving Hearts their first win of the season. Obviously, Gladson Awako’s quality was needed long before the dispute with Great Olympics on who the player was eligible to play for. The fearsome sharks may have found the champions a more difficult prospect, but may fancy their chances against new entrants, RTU.

LEGON CITIES VS KOTOKO
Accra based Legon Cities will have to pitch camp at Dawu, their adopted home for now, as the Accra Sports Stadium undergoes renovation and is rented out for other activities. Their poor run of form has seen them plummet to 14th place on the league table. Losses against Medeama and Aduana Stars, as well as draws against Asahntigold and Berekum Chelsea are all they have to show in their last 4 games. Maxwell Konadu will come up against his former employers and he know how difficult this tie will be, with the Kumasi giants looking for their first win in four games.
Kotoko have faltered in their bid to sustain an unassailable challenge towards annexing the league trophy. Their setback against city rivals, King Faisal, unsettled them for their subsequent games. The absence of some key players also played a key role in their current dry patch. Stalwarts such as Mudasiru Salifu was absent in their draw against RTU but is expected to come back against Legon Cities. Anything less than a win in this game will push the fan discomfort to critical levels. Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum must find a solution and fast.

KARELA UNITED VS BECHEM UNITED
Karela United suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Dreams FC in their game week 8 match. Their third away defeat of the season. Though it is quite early in the season, Karela will need to improve on their away performance or risk going down further the league table. They have not lost yet at home this season and they will be aiming for such a run to continue throughout the season.
Bechem United came away with a narrow one nil win in their home match with Eleven Wonders. They have been impressive with their home performances and just like Karela, are yet to make any meaningful impact away from home. Without a win away from home, Karela will be poised to take all three points when Bechem comes visiting.

HEARTS OF OAK VS ACCRA LIONS
Defending champios Hearts of Oak will be looking to make it two wins out of two games when they host Accra Lions in an Accra derby which will be played at the Cape Coast Stadium due to the closure of the Accra Sports Stadium for renovation works. The Phobians secured their first win of the season with a slim 1 nil win against Elmina Sharks. The goal came from “prodigal son” Gladson Awako when he came off the bench to score a sweet goal from long range. Fans of the club are positive the momentum and all the attention now will be geared towards domestic competitions after they were knocked out of the preliminary stages of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup tournaments. A win could lift them out of the relegation zone and set the pace to climb up the table as they have 3 outstanding matches.
New boys Accra Lions come face to face with the true “landlords” of Accra in this match week 9 fixture. Their start to the season hasn’t been entirely smooth as they’ve had their fair share of the struggles of new entrants of the league. They have registered 2 wins, 2 draws and 4 loses so far this season although the team plays some nice football. They however lack the “killer instinct” to see off their opponents. Interim coach James Nicholas Francis and his lads have a lot to do to match a “hungry” Hearts of Oak side.

KING FAISAL VS DREAMS FC
Current league leaders welcome Dreams FC in this fixture which promises to be exciting at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. There is no doubt this is a new King Faisal as their exploits in the season so far is a sharp contrast of who they were last season. Indeed, coach Amadu Nurudeen has done well with this team and deserves a lot of credit. In form Zubairu Ibrahim who got a hat-trick in their game against Kotoko is poised to help his team stretch the lead on top of the table to make a strong statement that they mean business this season. The team has conceded only 4 goals and kept 5 clean sheets, scoring 10 goals against their opponents. Dreams FC should be weary of this King Faisal side as they will punish them if they make any mistakes.
Dreams FC are currently enjoying themselves so far in the league. The team is already showing that they do not have issues with goal scoring as they have 17 goals in the season, scoring in every single game they’ve played. However, they have conceded 14 goals and that is a worry for their fans. With the likes of Fatawu Issahaku who was recently adjudged the Discovery of the year at the 46th Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) awards in the team, they don’t seem short of exciting to watch as he has scored some fantastic goals for his side. Fatawu currently is on 6 goals and ranked 3rd on the goal king chart. Dreams FC need to stay focused if they indeed want to get anything from this match.
