What a magical evening in Qatar!
What a night for African football!
A continent is united yet again after scenes from South Africa in 2010, where Ghana was so close to breaking the status quo.
Fast-forward 12 years down the line, history has been made. Another chapter has been rewritten in the chapters of “World Football.”
Africa has a representative in the semi-finals of football’s biggest tournament for the first time.
What’s more? Morocco are 90 minutes away from their highest pinnacle in their football history.
Saturday, December 10th, was magnificent in every way for Morocco. However, not only Morocco, but also Africa, Qatar, Arab countries, and West Asia, are involved. Morocco defeated a much-fancied Portuguese side to inch one step closer to being crowned World Champions of Football.
Fortune favors the Brave. When you go back to Match Day 1, and realise that Morocco has only given up one goal during the World Cup, you will be amazed. To add to this, the solitary goal they have conceded at the Mundial was an own goal. In all likelihood, they haven’t let their opponent score yet. They became the third nation to do so and advance to the semifinals without suffering a loss. France and Italy, the only two teams to advance this far without tasting a defeat, won the trophy in 1998 and 2006. Will history be rewritten a third time in Qatar in 2022?
It takes a lot of resolve to keep a clean sheet when you come up against the European powerhouses Portugal and Spain at the Mundial.
Next up, they come up against the defending champions, France. Another team no one expected to get this far because of the curse of the defending champions.
A place in the final on Sunday,18th December,2022 is up for grabs. The Atlas Lions, hold the hopes of not only the African continent but the Arabian community as well. We wish them all the best.
Thank you for making us believe yet again.
Whatever happens on Wednesday, you have a special place in the hearts of over 1.4 billion people in Africa.
Keep on roaring loudly in Qatar, Atlas Lions.
