THE BOYS’ BRIGADE GHANA COUNCIL MAIDEN ELITE NATIONAL TRAINING OFFICERS COMMAND COURSE II

The Boys’ Brigade, Ghana Council, has signed a collaboration agreement with the Ghana Armed Forces to train the officers of the Boys’ Brigade to equip them well to teach the boys in the Brigade. The maiden Elite National Training Officers Command Course II was held from the 2nd to 13th January 2022 at the Armed Forces Combat Training School, Teshie Accra. The training is intended to instil a high level of disciple and esprit de corps among the Brigade Officers. The Boys’ Brigade is a Christian youth organisation founded on the twin pillars of Religion and Discipline.

Speaking at the graduation parade, the President of the Boys’ Brigade, Mr Moses Foh-Amoaning (Esq), said since the inception of the Boys’ Brigade on the 4th of October, 1883, the Organisation under the effective direction of the founder, Sir William Alexander Smith, has always employed an infectious and explosive, a cocktail of the Military’s regimented tenents of discipline, hard work, teamwork and efficiency, co-mingled with the time-tested Christian moral and ethical standards, which are Bible-based, inspired and propelled by the inextinguishable flame of the Holy Spirit.

He emphasised that the introduction of the National Training Officers Command Course II is a bold and valiant attempt to deepen the formal structures that train the Brigade Officers, Captains and all categories of National Officers who are key stakeholders in grooming the boys to achieve the core mandate of the Brigade which is: The advancement of Christ’s Kingdom among boys and the promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-respect and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness.

Delivering the speech on behalf of Colonel I. B. Mohammed, the Commander of the Army Combat Training School, Lt. Colonel Dery said that the Boys’ Brigade’s strategic partnership with the Military Academy and Training School (MATS) and the Army Combat Training School (ACTS) would scale up the proficiency of the Brigade Officers in drill practice, sequencing, methodology and overall appreciation of command and control within a regimented organisation. The special guest of honour for the occasion, Rt. Rev. Dr. Daniel Sylvanus, commended the leadership of the Boys’ Brigade and the Ghana Armed Forces for the collaboration. He encouraged the graduating Officers to put what they had been taught into good use for the benefit of training boys to become responsible and disciplined Christians and citizens of Ghana.

A total of 24 National Training Officers participated in the training. The best in drill award went to Mr. Edward Oko Nunoo, (Cpt.) from the Greater Accra Regional Council. The best trainee theory award went to Rev. John Wiafe (Cpt.) from the Ashanti/North Regional Council. The overall best trainee went to Mr. Ben Jackson Sam (Cpt.) also from the Ashanti/North Regional Council. In attendance was Rev. David N. Agbloe, the Executive Secretary who said the prayer with other clergymen and representatives from the Boys’ Brigade affiliate churches. It was a colourful event.
