The Love is back! Now, bring the trophy Home!

Thursday afternoon filled our hearts with awesome joy as Ghanaians. Despite the high fuel prices and transportation fares, the Black Stars gave us something to cheer about. Defeating Switzerland by two goals to nil in their final preparatory match ahead of the World Cup.
This continued a trend for Ghana, the team has won all its final preparatory games dating back to 2006. But the real business begins on Thursday, November 24, when Ghana takes on Portugal in its first game in Group H.
Overall, it was an inspiring performance, keeping a clean sheet against a European side that had recently won laudable games against Spain, Portugal, and France. The naysayers will say this was just a friendly match; our opponents took it easy on us. But nevertheless, it was a test to see how the players will perform against an European side at the World Cup. The test was duly passed. Let’s commend the boys for a job well done.

The introduction of the African Iniesta into the game in the second half gave Ghana much-needed control in the middle of the park. It is no wonder that he gave the assist via a corner kick for Mohammed Salisu to score his first goal in the Black Stars jersey. Daniel Kofi Kyereh has to start against Portugal on November 24. A midfield partnership of Kudus, Partey, and Kyereh could be the key to holding our own against the Seleço das Quinas of Portugal.
Also, Kamaldeen is a gem that our technical team has to nurture to blossom fully in Qatar. His drive and speed make him unstoppable when he is in full flight. Once he improves his decision-making in the final third, Ghana’s attack will have a weapon that even the best defenders in the world will fear.
Can we talk about the composure of Antoine Semenyo? The way he took his moment to place the goal behind the net for Ghana’s second goal against Switzerland was impressive. And it all came from some brilliant footwork skills from Kamaldeen. Our hope has been ignited, and the love for the Black Stars is back, whether you agree with me or not.

Few Questions still lingering on our minds as fans:
Will our coach stick to a 3-back defense against Portugal or switch to a 4-back defense?
Who will be named No. 1 behind the posts as the World Cup kicks off?
How do we define the Ayew brothers’ role in the team?

A few observations that the over 30 million assistant coaches in Ghana have for Otto Addo:
Find a place for Kofi Kyereh in the team.
If you start with a 3-5-2 system, Antoine Semenyo is the ideal striker partner for Inaki Williams.
The Salisu-Amartey partnership is solid; let’s build that connection at the back.

These are our inputs as assistant coaches, but as you said at your press conference on Monday, you take full responsibility for the team line-up for each match. You have the final say.

We wish you guys all the best in Qatar.
Make us proud.
Thank you for letting us believe again.
Aim for glory.
Bring the cup Home!
