Veteran highlife musician, Rex Omar, says he is already in the music studios recording a campaign song for the opposition National Democratic Congress to be used for the 2020 elections.

According to him, he was only waiting for the party to name its running mate before stepping up works to release the song.

Rex Omar disclosed this in an interview on 3FM which was monitored by wenomedia.com.

Speaking on the selection of former Education Minister, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, as the running mate to John Mahama, the chairman of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), described the decision as the best thing to happen in Ghana’s political history.

He believes that the party’s running mate choice represents an opportunity for women to contribute to the country’s developmental agenda.

“I think it is the greatest thing that has happened in Ghana, especially concerning the two big political parties. This is an opportunity for at least our mothers and the Ghanaian woman to be recognized to show her contribution to decision making for national development. So I’m very happy because it’s taken a long time because of our culture. So this is an opportunity for women to be counted and also push our developmental agenda,” he said.

John Mahama and Prof. Naana Opoku Agyemang are hoping to snatch power from the governing NPP, led by President Akufo-Addo and Vice President, Dr Bawumia.
