Business Development Ministry To Support Zongo Businesses

The Minister for Business Development , Dr. Ibrahim Mohamed Awal, has revealed that government has provided Ghc 10million to support zongo businesses in the five regions of the north.

He indicated that beneficiaries will be selected after they presented their business plans to the ministry.

The Minister urged the zongo youth to take their businesses seriously in order to benefit from governments policies.

He made this known at the Zongo Business Initiative launch in Tamale on the theme ‘Empowering Zongo Youth for Inclusive Growth’.

Entrepreneurial training was given to young people from the zongos at the launch of the Zongo Business Initiative, under the auspices of the Ministry of Business Development.

The Zongo Business Initiative aims at building the entrepreneurial skills of the youth in zongo communities in Ghana for Jon creation.

The initiative is in consonance with the President’s commitment to strengthen the productive capacity of the youth.

According to him, the ministry will development strong 100 businesses next year and that 30 of these businesses will come from zongo entrepreneurs.

Mr. Awal stated about 250,000 young people graduate from various universities every year but only 2% of this number gets employment in the formal sector reason why government setup the Business Development Ministry to create jobs and support businesses in the country.

The Minister for Inner-City and Zongo Development, Dr. Mustapha Hamid is ho was the guest of honour, said the New Patriotic Party(NPP) is the only political party that brings change into the lives of the youth whenever they come into power.

He entreated Ghanaians to vote on December 7 for a leader who will take bold decisions for the development of the country.
