Two Chinese doctors in Wuhan who were critically ill of Coronavirus skin turned dark after the virus damaged their livers.
Dr Yi Fan, Dr Hu Weifeng, both were diagnosed with the novel Coronavirus while treating patients at the Wuhan Central Hospital in January.
Their abnormal skin colour was caused by hormonal imbalances after their livers were damaged by the virus, health experts told Chinese state media.
They were taken first to the Wuhan Pulmonary Hospital and then transferred twice, according to Chinese state broadcaster CCTV.
The report said that the damage could also be associated with inflammation as a result of the coronavirus, or a reaction to medication used to treat it.
Liver failure could result in those were were “critically ill” after they’d suffered respiratory failure, the study added.
But, “liver damage in mild cases of COVID-19 is often transient and can return to normal without any special treatment.
