DK Poison gets $45,000 Ghana owes him back

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has directed that the US$45,000 Ghana owes retired boxer David Kotei popularly known as D.K. Poison should be paid to him on compassionate grounds.

D.K. Poison is Ghana’s foremost world boxing champion.

For so many years he has been complaining about the US$45,000 Ghana under the leadership of General Kuntu Acheampoong borrowed from him after he won a boxing match and earned the money.

On all the numerous occasions that he requested for the money to be paid back, he was ignored.

In October last year, he met President Akufo-Addi and expressed his gratitude to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for granting him audience and also promising to resolve a claim by the onetime World Boxing Council (WBC) featherweight champion that the state owes him $45,000 dating over four decades.

He said he was confident that the assurance by the President to get to the bottom of the issue would ensure a positive outcome and an end to the long-running issue.

In a letter dated September 28, 2020 seen by Graphic Online and signed by the Secretary of the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante, President Akufo-Addo has directed that the money should be paid to D.K. Poison on “compassionate grounds.”
