The CEO of the Forestry Commission and former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie alias Sir John, has passed on.
Sir John reportedly died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on Wednesday evening.
According to our source, Sir John had no underlying health condition.
However, reliable information *available* to us is that, Sir John was being managed at home after showing symptoms of Covid-19 some weeks ago.
Sources say even though Sir John was responding to treatment at home and was doing better, he was sent to Korle Bu for treatment last week and test conducted confirmed covid-19 positive a day after he was admitted.
Even though he was put on a ventilator, he could not survive.
Meanwhile, two other top NPP officials are also alleged to be battling COVID-19 at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. The said officials are also on ventilators, sparking fears among family members as well as party faithful.
Why are top officials or very important statesmen being treated at Korle Bu for COVID-19?
