Ghana’s Covid-19 cases pass 53,000

Ghana’s Covid-19 cumulative cases since the outbreak of the viral disease in March have now surpassed 53,000.

From the latest update given by the Disease Surveillance Department of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) on Monday, December 14, the total cases are now 53,014.

With 51,761 recoveries-cum-discharges so far, and 327 deaths, the country is currently managing 926 cases.

The Greater Accra Region with cumulative cases of almost 30,000 has the highest number of active cases – 576.

This is followed by returnees who tested positive at the Kotoka International Airport. They are 172.

The Eastern Region, which has recorded a total of 2,594 cases since March, has 56 active cases.

The Volta and Ashanti regions follow with 27 and 25 active cases respectively.

So far, it is only the Savannah Region that has no active case.
