LIBERTY PROFESSIONALS vs BEREKUM CHELSEA

A quick up surge in form has seen Liberty Professionals win their last 2 games – their first back-to-back wins of the campaign coming just at the needed time. The Dansoman boys are now just 1 point from safety, sitting 16th with 21 points. They host Berekum Chelsea who are 9th on the log, at the Carl Reindorf Park in an encounter where the home team look to build on their red-hot form. Kofi Karikari’s 2 goals in as many games has been a major contribution to Liberty’s steady rise. He would be itching to make it 3 in 3 as his pairing with William Opoku Mensah looks to have brought the best out of him.

Chelsea, despite their position on the table are a side not to be looked past. The boys from Berekum have won 5 out of their last 9 games losing just 2 in the process; a side that is typically tough to beat. Despite that, they have yet to record an away clean sheet all season and with just 2 points to show for on the road. Coming into this game after a remarkable come-back win against Dwarfs, their morale should be lifted in finding a rare away win. Rather ironically, they visit a turf where they are yet to record a win.

KOTOKO vs MEDEAMA

The porcupine warriors were able to retain top spot after their encounter with Olympics, who were previous league leaders. That match lacked the usual creativity from Kotoko obviously due to the conspicuous absence of their Brazilian Magician, Fabio Gama, who had accumulated enough yellow cards to be suspended. Against a tough opposition in Medeama, they must go into battle without influential midfielder Mudasiru Salifu who is facing a suspension. Their chances of annexing the trophy this year depends on games such as a visit from Medeama. Len Clay has brought them some joy and they will hope to add Medeama to their victims so far.

Medeama head into one of their toughest fixtures without their midfield talisman, Justice Blay, who picked up a nasty injury against Legon Cities in match day 20. The team has been a thorn in the flesh of the porcupine warriors for a long time and will hope to get another over a fellow title rival. That win against Legon Cities propelled them into 4th place – possibly their highest placement this season. Kwasi Donsu will be heavily relied upon to get something positive against Kotoko.

EBUSUA DWARFS vs OLYMPICS

Ebusua Dwarfs will host Accra Great Olympics at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium. Both teams cannot afford to lose this game. Dwarfs are not particularly safe from relegation as there are just 3 points between them and the 16th placed team. This season, Dwarfs have not really made use of home advantage and they would have to be resolute to keep Olympics from taking all 3 points. The Mysterious boys have played 4 times against Olympics, losing 2 and drawing 2.

Olympics, on the other hand will be looking to maintain the pressure on league leaders Asante Kotoko. Olympics will themselves feel the pressure from the 3rd and 5th placed teams as the point difference between them is 3points and any slip ups will see them move down the league table. They are winless in two of their previous matches, picking up just a point.

ASHGOLD vs BECHEM UNITED

It is a matchup between 7th vs 8th as Ashanti Gold host Bechem United at the Len Clay stadium on Match Day 21 in the Ghana Premier League. The Miners are currently on a 4-game unbeaten run which includes a massive result against Accra Hearts of Oak on Match Day 19. Ashanti Gold has managed to keep two successive clean sheets in the league against Hearts of Oak and King Faisal. Can they extend this streak to three games against Bechem United?

Bechem United was the biggest winner in Match Day 20, where they defeated Aduana Stars by 4 goals to nil. They come up against a side who have kept a clean sheet in their two previous matches. We have an intriguing contest on our hands, as Bechem United will strive hard to break Ashanti Gold’s defences for the first time in about 1,800 minutes.

INTER ALLIES vs KING FAISAL

Inter Allies look destined for the drop unless they can work up some consistency in their results until matchday 34. The came back into the 2nd round with a win on matchday 19 but succumbed to a defeat against Hearts of Oak by a lone goal – the former exacting revenge for the defeat Inter Allies inflicted on them in the first round. Against King Faisal will be a different prospect as both teams are heavily rooted in the relegation zone. Just 3 points separate them, and a win will put Inter Allies above King Faisal because the former have a better goal difference (-9).

King Faisal are without a win in their last 4 games and are still not turning up with a good run of form. To add insult to injury, their star man in Kwame Peprah picked up an injury – one that has seen them struggle to convert their chances. In an interview with the media, bank roller of the club, Alhaji Grunsah solicited for support from the fans and divine help to enable them avoid relegation. Ibrahim Danlad, on loan from Kotoko was one of their bright spots in their draw against Ashgold. They will need their offensive line in better form if they can win anything from that game against fellow relegation strugglers.

KARELA vs HEARTS OF OAK

It will be crunch encounter as Karela face off with Accra Hearts of Oak at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park in game week 21. With the season’s title still up for grabs, the two teams will have to be at their best if any of them are to take all 3 points. Karela would have to recapture their form from the first half of the season, or they risk losing out on the title. Coach Evans Adotey will have to steer his ship back to winning ways and what better way than to win against their next opponent. A win against Hearts of Oak will boost their morale for a long time.

The Phobia Boys have not won the league since the 2008/2009 season and will be desperate to win it for their fans. With the league nearing its climax, every single point won will inch them closer to the title. The last time Hearts beat Karela was in 2019 and have not won away at Karela in 3 previous encounters. The CAM has not been kind to many visitors and Hearts will expect some hostility on the field of play. All that will matter to them is the ability of their players to convert their chances. Victor Aidoo missed a penalty against Ashgold and will seek to make amends at the grounds of a fellow title rival. Will this be the time they break that jinx? We wait to see.

ADUANA vs ELMINA SHARKS

The Fire boys will host Elmina Sharks on matchday 21. Aduana’s form has not been blistering enough to give them a chance in winning the trophy. After 20 matches, they are in 10th place with a goal difference of -6. Such a form does not mirror a title contender. They have conceded 16 goals in their last 6 games, scoring just 6 goals in return. They are not short of fire power but positive form has eluded them this season. Yahya Mohammed has been missing for while, Samuel Bioh and co are also not firing as they used to. A revival is possible against the sharks who have their own off-field issues to deal with.

After parting ways with Coach Odartey Lamptey, due to some fan disgruntlement, the sharks will have to travel to Dormaa without a coach. The former Ghana International won 3 out of the 4 games he handled with the Elmina-based side. All promise of a rosy relationship between the team and the coach has ebbed away, leaving them vulnerable at a venue which has been difficult for many teams.

LEGON CITIES vs DREAMS FC

Legon Cities’ resurgence in the League just toward the end of the 1st round has quickly disappeared after a lopsided performance since the resumption of the Ghana Premier League. Their giant killing result against Accra Great Olympics at home was followed by an abysmal result versus Medeama. Next up, they face Dreams at home – a fixture which promises to be another exciting match. Legon Cities hold a formidable home record in the last three games in the league, but this will be tested against a Dreams side looking to break into the Top 4. They will be without their bulwark at the back in Joseph Aidoo, who received his marching orders after that dangerous tackle against Medeama.

Dreams FC are just 3 points behind 4th placed side Medeama. And after a promising run during the early weeks of the year, things have looked a bit gloomy for Dreams. They bounced back last weekend from a loss against Medeama by recording a narrow victory against Karela united. Joseph Esso also finally parteed ways with the Dawu-based side to commence a career with MC Algiers. Can they build upon last week’s impressive performance with another victory this weekend?

WAFA vs ELEVEN WONDERS

After defeat to Sharks in the last matchday, WAFA head back to their favourite Sogakope Park where they host Techiman Eleven Wonders in a matchday 21 fixture. This encounter will feature 2 sides whose realistic ambitions at this point will be to survive relegation rather than anything else. Especially for Eleven Wonders who can hardly find a win lately. WAFA have shown topsy turvy form lately, providing all kinds of results, except for their home form which will be key to their survival. At home they have remained invincible with 6 wins and 3 draws in 9 games. They host a side they beat in the reverse fixture. Their only away win of the campaign.

Coach Ignatius Osei Fosu’s charges gradually keep going down the table. After losing just once in their first 6 games, Eleven Wonders have lost 7 times in their following 13 games winning only 4 games in the process. They remain 1 of 6 clubs yet to record an away victory and boast of a single clean sheet on the road. Eleven Wonders after losing their last game can barely afford a consecutive defeat, leaving this match at its feistiest state.
