KING FAISAL VS ADUANA STARS

Kumasi based King Faisal host top dogs, Aduana Stars in match day 19. The two teams have been impressive this term, and will look to slug it out for better positions as the second round kicks off. King Faisal are in unfamiliar territory on the table, as their perennial relegation struggle has given way for some impressive performances including wins against Kotoko, away at Dormaa of all places among others. Coach Nurudeen, who has consistently hammered that his team seek to maintain their status as a premier league team will be faced with the task of avoiding a revenge at the hands of the fire boys.

Aduana Stars are still in 4th place, after two successive wins. Their last few games to the end fo the first half of the season did not go as they planned, but that will have to be put behind them as focus for the send round is desperately needed. They are second best on the road, behind league leaders, Kotoko, and will be unfazed by the Baba Yara crowd. In-form Bright Adjei will seek to add to his tally of 11 goals, as competition heats up for the goal king award.

KARELA UNITED VS ASHANTI GOLD

Karela United will face off with AshGold in a game week 19 fixture. Karela were defeated in their away game against Aduana stars, their winning start to the second round halted in the process. They will be up against an AshGold team that has been inconsistent this season. Karela will be more confident heading into this game but games between the two teams can be tricky. Previous fixtures have all end in stalemates.

AshGold are yet to record a win at the start of the second round of the season. Their season has been full of inconsistencies. They have lost 2 games and drawn one prior to this game, with the latest being a 1:4 defeat to Eleven Wonders at their own backyard. AshGold will need to dig deep to find a winning formula to turn their season around.

BIBIANI GOLD STARS VS MEDEAMA

The Dun’s Park will play host to Gold Stars and Medeama SC as they battle it out in a game week 19 fixture. Gold Stars will be fired up for this match as they look to make amends for their away defeat at Berekum. The fixture between the two when they met earlier in the season ended in a one all draw but Gold Stars will be aiming to go one step better in their next match up. Home advantage will be the key for the ‘Gye Nyame Boys’ as all their wins this season have come when they played at their own backyard.

Medeama will be motivated as they come into this match, coming off the back of a 1 nil win in their game against Bechem United. Medeama are 6th on the league table, and they have a long way to go if they are to make the qualifying positions for Africa. The match will be intense with little goal scoring chances available. The team that is most clinical will take the day.

ACCRA LIONS VS GREAT OLYMPICS

An all-Accra clash takes place today at the Accra Sports Stadium between debutants Accra Lions and second placed side Great Olympics. The lions are a place above the relegation zone and as the home team, will need to make the invisible advantage count. With the likes of Christopher Agyapong leaving the shores of the country to join Bulgarian side CSKA 1948 Sofia, the youthful debutants will have to find a fitting replacement to keep out the in-form opponent.

Great Olympics are the most in-form team at the moment, taking 12 points out of a possible 15. Their late win against RTU propelled them to second spot and fueled them with the much needed confidence for the start of the second round. Maxwell Abbey Quaye has not hit the form of the top two goal king contenders, but has an impressive overall performance for his team, to the admiration of his coach, Annor Walker.

BECHEM UNITED VS KOTOKO

In the absence of Olympic’s win over RTU, this clash would have been the clash of the top two teams. Bechem United are the second best team at home, with their record only bettered by their opponents on the afternoon of Independence day. They have a better goal difference at home than their opponents and will seek to rely on Kasim Mingle’s tactics to create problems for the porcupine warriors and neutralize their ever-present attacking threat.

Kotoko are the toast of the season so far, annihilating almost all opponents who come their way. They will seek to put the defeat at the President’s cup behind them and resume normal service in far away Bechem. With Bechem’s form and impressive disciplined displays, tests in the Ghana Premier League will not come as tough as this determined team. This match is definitely the fixture of the weekend.

HEARTS OF OAK VS WAFA

The defending champions welcome WAFA to Accra on Wednesday March 9, 2022. The fixture, which was scheduled for the weekend had to be shifted to midweek, after the President’s cup was played on Friday March 4, in honour of the 1st gentleman of the country. They will definitely be buoyed up by that result against their arch-rival, Kotoko. Coach Boadu will also seek to put that draw against Legon Cities behind him and try to catch up with the pack at the top of table.

WAFA are in the relegation places and have been there for a while now. This is not the form of the team that finished 3rd last season, behind Hearts of Oak and Kotoko. Their struggles have been attributed to the coming of the new coach who is still in the process of adapting to the team. Their priced jewel in Konadu Yiadom is still yet to leave the shores as rumored, but his inclusion in the squad for today’s game will give them a boost against a hungry Hearts of Oak side.
