BEREKUM CHELSEA VS KARELA UNITED

Berekum Chelsea will host Karela United on Match Day 20 of the Ghana Premier League at the Golden City Park in Berekum. The “Bibires” have  revenge on their minds in this fixture as they lost the first round fixture by 2-1 when they traveled to Ainyinase. Berekum Chelsea who are former champions of the Ghana Premier League, are unbeaten in their last 9 games coming into this fixture. Their only loss at home this season was a 1 nil defeat to RTU in Match Week 5. The team needs all 3 points to possibly move them to 5th on the table as they are just 6 points clear the relegation zone. Their goalkeeper, Obeng Sekyereh Gregory who has kept 10 clean sheets and conceded 8 goals, will be in post for the team.

Karela United with their coach Bismark Kobby Mensah have been doing some great work so far this season. Although they lost some key players including top scorer for last season, Diawise Taylor, they managed to bounce back well and are placed 8th on the table with 28 points. Their trip to Berekum will be one of their toughest fixtures this season as their opponents have lost just once at home this season. Karela however have managed to pick up some key points from their away fixtures with a record of 2 wins, 3 draws and 6 loses from these away trips.

ADUANA STARS VS HEARTS OF OAK

Without a doubt, the most titanic clash of the match week, Aduana Stars, the Ogya Boys, will host defending champions, Accra Hearts of Oak. The stakes and the points are available for grabs for second placed Aduana Stars, who have the likes of Great Olympics and Bechem United on their heels, to overtake them if they slip. Bright Adjei’s 12 goals make him the second best scorer so far and will love to add to his tally when the rainbow boys come visiting.

Champion club Accra Hearts of Oak face a stern test in Dormaa, as they lock horns with Aduana Stars, who are rooted in 2nd place. The Phobians will miss some critical service from veteran, Sulley Muntari and Salifu Ibrahim, the latter, who has started light training. This game affords Hearts the chance to close the gap on rivals, Kotoko to 9 points instead of the current 12 points. Coach Boadu and his charges must avert the impending flurry of attacking threats that will be thrown at them, and must find a way to grab all three points.

OLYMPICS VS LEGON CITIES

Olympics host Legon Cities in an all Accra clash. After a string of 3 straight wins, the dade boys found themselves in 2nd place for a brief moment. Elmina Sharks, Real Tamale United and Accra Hearts of Oak were the last three teams to fall to the sword of the wonder club. Four different scorers have been registered on the score sheet for the four goals which have been scored in the process of the 3 wins. Definitely, the goal scoring burden has been lifted off Maxwell Abbey Quaye.

Legon Cities have gathered 9 points out of a possible 18 in their last six games. Though such a form is not the best, it gives them an average of 1.5 points per game. If this trend is to continue, they may hold their own and retain their status as a Premier League team. Jonah Attuquaye has score 2 of their last 4 goals and will be one to watch in this local derby.

KOTOKO VS BIBIANI GOLD STARS

League leaders, Kumasi Asante Kotoko have won 4 of their last 8 games, losing just 1 in the process. Their consistency is backed a point per game of 2.50. At home, they have scored more than a goal per game, 19 in all and are fancied to add to their tally when the new boys visit the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. One thing the team needs to do is to work on having a varied number of scorers, to avoid their game plan of being read. Mbella has been the man for them so far but the team will have to up the ante to vary their play and give themselves a chance against very good sides. The reverse fixture ended 1-0 to Kotoko in Bibiani.

Gold Stars travel to experience the brute force of the porcupine warriors, who have made the Premier League their focus this season. Gold Stars have won 3, lost 2 and drawn 1 of their last 6 games. Building momentum is key in maintaining their status as a premier league team. Any giant killing feat worthy of accomplishing will not come bigger than teams like Kotoko.
