LEGON CITIES FC VS MEDEAMA SC

The Royals have signed on five players to bolster their impressive off-field marketing antics. The results had to match the hype one way or another. Their convincing victory over WAFA in match week 13 did not do enough to help them in their defeat against at the Golden City Park against Berekum Chelsea. Baba Mahama could partner Samuel Norgbey formerly of Bolga Stars. Such a pacey combination could hurt Medeama.

Medeama are sitting pretty at the top of the table after 14 games. Their win against Techiman Eleven Wonders was as convincing as it was a display of dominance. Away at Accra, replicating this performance will not come easy against a possibly remolded Legon Cities team whose identity on the pitch is likely to look differently. Prince Opoku Agyemang has been prolific so far will seek to add to his tally of nine goals so far.

BECHEM UNITED VS ADUANA STARS

Bechem United’s spirited performance at the Len Clay Stadium to pip AshGold was highly commendable and showed signs of their quality: the same quality which has seen them jump into 8th place after 14 games. A win will be very important as they visit the dreaded Sogakope Park to face WAFA in match day 16.

Aduana pulled the rabbit out of the hat against WAFA when they put just one past their match day 14 opponents. Yahaya Mohammed was on hand to inflict that defeat and he will be counted upon to push Aduana through another tough fixture as he chases the golden boot award this season. They share top spot with Medeama who go away to Legon Cities in a tricky fixture. A win will do their title ambitions a lot of good.

BEREKUM CHELSEA VS WAFA

Berekum Chelsea have slipped to 3rd place on the table after losing two out of their last five games. That notwithstanding, their impressive showing to halt Legon Cities’ unbeaten run will inspire confidence in them to garner the maximum points. The knowledge that a slip up by any of their co-contenders could spur them on to victory. They still have a lot to do in terms of goal scoring as they have the least goal difference among the top four teams.

WAFA have been the best definition of inconsistent this season. Their fortress was breached by Aduana the last time around and they will seek to make amends in a difficult fixture. Will they reduce their rate of profligacy and convert their chances? If that question can be answered in the affirmative, WAFA can be assured of picking a point or more from Berekum.

ELEVEN WONDERS VS EBUSUA DWARFS

Coach Ignatius Osei-Fosu’s Eleven Wonders’ five-match unbeaten run came to an end as they suffered defeat by two goals to nil at Medeama in game week 14. The season has been a jump start campaign; they will be hoping to start another unbeaten run as they face 16th placed Ebusua Dwarfs. Eleven Wonders are 4points off the relegation zone and a win for them will take them further away from the drop zone.

Ebusua Dwarfs’ win in game week 14 will give them confidence as they head into this match. They showed lots of character to comeback from a goal down to beat King Faisal at the Cape Coast Stadium. Dwarfs away record has been abysmal this season, drawing one and losing six within the period. Dwarfs are 16th on the league log and more defeats will only get them rooted in the relegation places.

ELMINA SHARKS VS DREAMS FC

Central Region based Elmina Sharks put up a spirited performance to nick a point off Kotoko in the match day 14 clash which took place at the Accra Sports Stadium. This result moved the sharks to 5th place, just behind Kotoko. It also ensured that they extended their unbeaten run to six games. On their own home turf, they have 3 wins with some solid performances. They show no fear in their encounters and Dreams FC may suffer for that fearlessness.

The men from Dawu lie 12th on the table and have registered just 3 points from their last 5 games. Away from home, Dreams FC have had 2 wins, 2 draws and 3 losses. The form of their hosts is a disadvantage to them. That notwithstanding, a point at Bechem United, a difficult ground for any team should inspire them as they have nothing to lose.

GREAT OLYMPICS VS LIBERTY PROFESSIONALS

It is another regional derby as Accra Great Olympics host their city rivals Liberty Professionals. After suffering a humiliating defeat at the hands of their nemesis Accra Hearts of Oak in game week 14, Olympics will be desperate to return to winning ways and appease their fans for the defeat. Coach Prince George Koffie’s boys have the same points with 16th placed Ebusua Dwarfs. For them, defeat could see them sucked into the relegation dog fight. Three of their four wins this season have been at home. Home advantage could count for Olympics.

But for a late goal in their last match, they would have come away with a point in their game week 14 match against Inter Allies. The result leaves them 13th on the league log. This derby will present a fine opportunity to right the wrongs at home. Two of their wins this season have been away from home. This will give them confidence heading into this match up.

KARELA UNITED VS ASHANTIGOLD FC

Another poor result will further agitate fans of Karela United after recording no win in their last 7 games of the season. Management recently issued a communique to calm the nerves of the fans and solicit for continued support of the club in these difficult times. Currently second from bottom on the league log and frantically fighting to survive relegation, a lot is expected of the Tarkwa boys to shine in this fixture.

AshGold are also facing their own problems after a shock loss at home against Bechem United in their previous game. A win for them will settle the nerves of the beloved fans back home at Obuasi. The stakes are high but this fixture will definitely favour the team that rises to the occasion.

INTER ALLIES FC VS KUMASI ASANTE KOTOKO

Two ambitious teams will lock horns at the Accra Sports Stadium on match day 15. The host team, Inter Allies are coming from an impressive win over Liberty Professionals at the Carl Reindorf Park during midweek. The poise and panache on display by both teams was a spectacle to behold. The goals scored were also of high quality with top marksman Victorien Adebayor on the score sheet yet again. That goal saw him rack up his goal count to 12 in 14 games. Offensively, Inter Allies will pose a daunting threat on the back line of Kotoko.

The porcupine warriors will revisit the venue of their goalless drawn game against Elmina Sharks. The Porcupine Warriors were held at bay in their own adopted background in an exciting end to end contest. They only managed to hit the upright late in the first half and survived a few scares as their goalkeeper, Kwame Baah bravely averted a goal after a one-on-one chance was created by the Elmina Sharks. He has proven to be pivotal after displacing Felix Annan in the Kotoko goal and will fancy a splendid performance against a sharp shooting opposition.

KING FAISAL FC VS ACCRA HEARTS OF OAK

King Faisal will host Hearts of Oak in an exciting match week 15 fixture. King Faisal have so far not won a single game this season although they are one of the teams with the most goals scored. With a potent attack line, their low point is their porous defense which concedes goals on a regular basis. Being rock bottom on the league log means a lot of work is required from Alhaji Grunsah’s boys to survive relegation.

Hearts of Oak however will want to further deepen the woes of King Faisal in this fixture. After a 4 nil win against fierce city rivals Great Olympics in their previous game, the Phobia boys will want to take advantage of the porous defense of Faisal to trumpet to their fans that they are serious about winning this league. Fans of both clubs should expect more goals in this fixture.
