A young boy called Edward Otu who is a science student in Mfantsipim senior high school has developed a vaccine for the corona-virus and he is ready to test it to see how effective It will help fight against the corona-virus, speaking on pink FM yesterday evening Edward Otu who is eighteen years of age said that he developed the passion to read science and become a scientist in future when he was in primary school and this desire pushed him to come up with a vaccine for the novel virus.

The host of the program questioned Edward on how he came up with the vaccine and Edward disclosed to him that he is a science student so he did a research on the corona-virus and he realized that the virus originates from SARS COV -2 and therefore he decided to research on plants that are capable of fighting the corona-virus because his vaccine contains a compound which he got from the plants and therefore he is very confident that the vaccine which he has created is capable of fighting the virus.

Edward disclosed on pink FM yesterday that he has been to the center for research into scientific and herbal medicine for testing but upon seeing the deputy in charge of the department he was told that his research and explanation to what he has created makes a lot of sense but the deputy in charge of the center for research said in a quote to him “it is not possible for prince and princess to be alive whiles a slave becomes a king” and this quote from the deputy to him has rather motivated him to seek for resources from other agencies and send a sample of his vaccine to Noguchi memorial institute for testing and he is very confident that his hard work will yield results.

The novel virus has prompted a lot of Ghanaian’s to come out with so many technological equipment to help citizens prevent themselves from contracting the corona-virus. Before Ghana went into lock-down a young man in Ghana created SolaWash is an automated and mobile hand washing machine powered by solar panels. It was invented by Richard Kwarteng and his team in Kumasi. The Solar Wash machine was invited to fight against the novel corona-virus pandemic by not touching the tap before and after washing hands. Richard Kwarteng said he took inspiration from the veronica bucket when he and his team were inventing the solar wash and this invention has played a significant role in our fight against the novel virus.
