PAP, UFP & UPP flagbearers file to contest Presidential elections

Three presidential aspirants have today filed their nominations to contest the December 7 election.

They are the flag bearers of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Mr Akwasi Addai Odike, People’s Action Party (PAP), Mr Kwesi Busumbru and United Front Party ( UFP), Mr Nana Agyenim Boateng.

This brings to a total of 15 aspirants who have so far submitted the completed copies of their nomination forms to the Electoral Commission (EC) to enable him to contest the presidential election.

UPP

The National Chairman of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Mr Kenneth Kwame Asamoah was the first to submit the completed nomination forms to the EC on behalf of the party’s flag bearer, Mr Akwasi Addai Odike.

The UPP team arrived at the Commission around midday although they were originally scheduled to submit the forms at 9 a.m.

After submitting the forms to the EC Chairperson, Mrs Jean Mensa as required by the rules of the exercise, Mr Asamoah said the EC was doing a good job and urged all stakeholders to give the Commission the necessary support.

“We know that the EC is doing a good work and did not want to give the Commission too much work so we did everything correctly and we know the EC would be satisfied,” he said.

PAP

Next to file was the founder and flag bearer of the People’s Action Party (PAP), Mr Kwesi Busumbru who arrived at the Commission few minutes after midday in the company of his running mate, Mr William Kwame Adom, an accountant.

After submitting the forms to the EC, Mr Busumbru thanked the Commission for their guidance as the party prepared to participate in the December 7 elections.

“I would like to thank the EC for a good job done. We started this journey in November 2017 and on behalf of PAP, we are thankful. We appreciate all your good work and training,” he said.

He said he was particularly impressed with how the EC conducted the voters registration exercise and charged the Commission to employ the same professionalism in the conduct of the December 7 elections.

“You did a good work on voters registration and we hope everything went well and we are ready for this years elections,” Mr Busumbru said.

UFP

The flag bearer of the United Front Party ( UFP), Mr Nana Agyenim Boateng was the 15th aspirant to file his nomination on the last day of the exercise.

Mr Boateng arrived at the Commission in the company of his running mate, Mr Emmanuel Mensah Boamah.

After the presentation, Mr Boateng thanked the Commission and asked them to ensure that there was peace in the country during and after the elections.

Meanwhile the EC will reconvene at 4pm today to complete the final lap of the nomination exercise.
