Post-corona: Brace up for radically different global economy – Bawumia to African C’tries

Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has urged African economies to get prepared for a post-corona era that will bring a new phase of “global economic architecture”.

In a Facebook post on Friday, April, 10, 2020, Dr. Bawumia reiterated that African countries face a radically different global economy, likely to “usher in more self- reliance by countries in the production of goods and services”.

“We in Africa have to get ready for this future,” he stressed.

The Akufo-Addo administration has made audacious statement about reviving the Ghanaian economy despite the extent of the crisis.

“We know what to do to bring back our economy back to life. What we do not know how to do is to bring people back to life” President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo told Ghanaians in an address to the nation on measures taken against the spread of the coronavirus.

The coronavirus pandemic is driving upheavals in the economies on the globe as countries are getting hit harder by the pandemic.

Businesses  have switched to teleworking partially on the back of the global plague.

Worst hit countries are still miles away from flattening the curve in the global response to the virus.

Financial markets have experienced extreme volatility as the economic impact from the coronavirus has worsened. Many markets, including those in the US, are closed on Good Friday.

The head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has warned the world is facing the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s.

Kristalina Georgieva, according to a BBC report said the coronavirus pandemic would turn economic growth “sharply negative” this year.
