The Accra Circuit Court 2 has granted bail to Ibrahim Husain, alias Kumodzi, one of the two supposed ring leaders of the Nima gun violence incident.
Ibrahim Husain and three others who were in custody were granted bail to the tune of GHS 80,000 with two sureties each.
A lawyer for the accused persons, Gregory Asiedu said, “The next court date is the 9th of March, 2022. The court considered the presumption of innocence and the court looked at whether they were going to be a flight risk when they are granted bail, and the answer is no.”
Earlier this month, the court granted bail to 8 out of 12 other accused persons said to be involved in the gun violence.
The Court presided over by Her Honour, Rosemary Baah Torsu, granted the eight (8) accused persons GH¢80,000 bail each with two (2) sureties each.
They are also required to sign a bond of good behavior, and to report to the Nima Divisional Headquarters of the Ghana Police twice a week.
Those who were granted bail are Abdul Gafaru Maham, Ibrahim Moro alias Jalo, Atarouwa Bassam, and Abdul Mumuni Gariba.
The rest are Mohammed Saabi Barinu alias Namer, Bashiru Ganiru and Illiasu Salim Issa Seidu.
Ibrahim Hussain alias Kumodzi, leader of the “Kumodzi gang” was arrested earlier this month and was consequently detained to assist the investigation of the clashes.
Another leader in the crime, Ali Awudu alias Bombom, is still being pursued by the police together with other accomplices.
A video released by the Ghana Police Service showed some men holding machetes moving along a street in the community. Gunfire was also heard in the video, with one man appearing to be firing a gun.
Following the eruption of violence, which is said to be common in the area, police said three people were seriously wounded, but no fatalities were recorded.
