Stanbic Bank supports Police Intelligence Directorate with two vehicles

A team of officers from Stanbic Bank, led by its Head of Marketing and Communication, Mr Mawuko Afadzinu, has donated two vehicles to the Police Administration to be used by officers of the Intelligence Directorate because they recognise the centrality of law and order.

COP Dr George Akuffo Dampare, Director-General, Administration, received the donation on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police and called on corporate Ghana to also use their board rooms and management meetings to encourage the staff to promote safety and security at work, at home and in the society.

The donation was received on Friday, 6th November 2020, at the Police headquarters, Accra.

We’ll deal with troublemakers on election day – IGP

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr James Oppong-Boanuh, has said the police will deal with any person or group of persons who will attempt to disrupt the peace of the country and the electoral process in the upcoming 7 December polls.

The IGP was speaking at a press conference held in Accra on Wednesday, 4 November 2020, to update Ghanaians on preparations made by the police toward the December polls.

“Security services are very familiar with the laws and every person or group of persons who falls foul of the law will be dealt with,” Mr Oppoing-Boanuh said.

The IGP also disclosed that a total of 62,794 personnel from the country’s security forces will be deployed for the elections.

He said: “62,794 security personnel from the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana Fire Service, the Ghana Prison Service, the Ghana Immigration Service, the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, and the Ghana Armed Forces are being deployed for the elections.”

The IGP further revealed that all security personnel deployed for the 7 December polls will be in uniform except for a few who will remain invisible.

“All the personnel I have mentioned will be in their regular uniforms with the exception of officers from the Criminal Investigations Department of the Police Service and the Bureau of National Investigations who will remain invisible.”

He also assured the general public that those caught in offence of the law will be prosecuted.

Noting, “I have already said that we have a deep commitment to preventing crime from happening, but where they do happen, we will arraign the offenders, do the investigations, gather the necessary evidence and get them prosecuted successfully.”
