Two Police officers were promoted for arresting a colleague transporting Indian hemp

The Police Administration has promoted two officers, for their role in effecting the arrest of a colleague officer who was allegedly nabbed while transporting substances suspected to be Indian hemp.

The two officers who have been promoted by the Police Administration include Inspector Azumah Komla Justice and No. 52543 G/L/CpL Felix Diameter.

A copy of a press statement issued by the Police and signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Chief Superindent Grace Ansah-Akrofi commended the two officers for their “patriotism, vigilance and dedication to duty”

Arrest

The suspect, G/Sgt Lotus Agbeko, a Police officer stationed at the Formed Police Unit (FPU) in Accra failed to stop at the Have Police barrier when he was signaled by the officers on duty to do so.

The officers on duty, therefore, pursued him and on reaching a section of the road on the Kpeve Mountain, he[suspect] was involved in an accident and had a fracture on his left hand.

He was thus arrested and sent to the hospital for treatment. He was later transferred to the Police Hospital for further medical attention where he is under guard, the statement added.

Indian hemp

The Police reportedly retrieved 84 parcels of compressed dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp from the suspect’s car.

Police say the exhibits have been retained while the investigation continues.

Meanwhile, the suspect will be arraigned before the court upon discharge from the hospital.
