Local News

Two more people in the Upper West Region have lost their lives from the Cerebrospinal Meningitis(CSM) bringing the death toll to 45.

The total case count stands at 315 from the 273 previously recorded.

Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Okoe-Boye who led a team of health experts to the region to deal with the situation made the disclosure on Joy News.

The last time when I was there we had about 43 deaths, we have two more deaths so they are now 45. In all, it has moved from 273 to 315 cases but the good news is that we have five active cases as we speak and out of the five, four are on admission and are stable.

“We might be tempted to think that because of COVID we have neglected it but they too they were dealing with a novel in quotes because the type they were dealing with is not known to usually cause outbreaks but we are working at it,” Dr. Okoe Boye stated.
