A student of Legon reveals why Ghanaians are getting blind rapidly on World Sight Day

Local News

World Sight Day is celebrated annually to create awareness of the eyes and keeping them healthy. The theme for this year’s celebration of World Sight Day is” Love Your Eyes”.

Malik Afari Doodu, a visually impaired student of the University of Ghana educated Ghanaians on how to keep their eyes safe because it is better to be safe than to be sorry!.

He urged Ghanaians to abolish superstition, misconception, and fetish priests’ beliefs about eye defects and rather seek medical care from professionals.

He further encouraged Ghanaians to make it a habit of getting their eyes tested once every year and urge parents of children who are visually impaired to enroll their children in the educational systems because it is not an offense in a country where we are promoting inclusive education.

The World population is increasing and ignorance they say is not an excuse. Be educated now.
