CAGD The Controller and Accountant General Department says public sector workers will forfeit their salary by December 1 2021 or acquire a national identification card.
Concerns from some sectors of government workers revealed that the Controller and General Accountant Department should extend the deadline or reconsider the directive and withdraw it completely
The Head of Public Relations at CAGD reaffirmed the department’s directives saying that is the best way to address challenges in Government’s payroll system.
He however urged the various public institution and unions to educate their members to acquire the identification card before the deadline.
Moreso, provisions have been made by NIA National Identification Authority for Ghanaians who couldn’t get their Ghana cards, to receive them.
NIA disclosed that more than 15 million citizens had registered for the Ghana card but only 12 million citizens were able to receive theirs.
