Airport Ridge, Takoradi gets a gated community

The Airport Ridge residential area in Takoradi is set to have a gated community which will be the first of its kind in Takoradi. The gated community known as the Riverside enclave is estimated to be completed within  24 months.

With the land site located close to a river and canker of annual flooding in the community, one of the conditions to be met by the contractor before a building permit will be issued by the Land Use and Spatial Planning Unit of the Sekondi- Takoradi  Municipal   Assembly was to dredge the river.

Mr Kofi Yeboah of the metro physical planning department at a site inspection visit and commissioning ceremony indicated that the idea was a laudable one. However, the community experienced annual flooding, and as such, the department required the contractor to dredge the river to prevent any future disaster.  He said this was in consultation with the residents after a community engagement with all relevant stakeholders to avoid flooding and any future harm to the residents in the area.

Mr Prakash Vishnu Lalwani of United Rentals Construction who is in charge of the project explained that they had met all the requirements,  the project is set to begin. He noted that the project would comply with all agreed terms from the Assembly and community members since he has their welfare at heart.

Mr Prakash stated that his intention for this project is to enhance the area, bring value, attract investment, create awareness, instigate community bonding, and help indigenes of Takoradi living outside the city and abroad to acquire properties at home with security assured.

He indicated that the two-acre land would be structured into three-bedroom and four-bedroom townhouse apartments and made affordably. Adding,  packages are available for prospective homeowners to have tailor-made plans such as Off-plan packages with drastic percentage discounts, mortgage systems, short term and long term instalment systems.

Mr Prakash Vishnu Lalwani stated that the Riverside enclave would have three phases: phase one with Solomon’s pride, phase 2 with the olive enclave and phase 3 as the calvary enclave.

He disclosed that the facility would have a fitness centre, community centre, playground, others for both in community use and out of community use, where the gated community will have its own. The residents of Airport Ridge also have one allocated to them. The developer also assured the security of the residents and the community once completed with the availability of 24hours security, CCTV cameras, and razor wire fencing, among other security measures.

Mr Prakash explained that having lived at Airport Ridge most of his life and being a son of the community,  he intends to do all in his power to ensure that things are done in compliance with the Assembly and the satisfaction of the residents. He explained there would be adequate security and respect for nature being guided by the Environmental Protection  Agency( EPA)  and Wildlife Society to preserve the eco-system and ensure that the people’s livelihood is not taken away from them, assuring availability of jobs for the community indigenes.

He noted that with consent from the Assembly and community lawyer, dredging and building works would be placed side by side.

He hinted that the dredging will provide a clean river and an appreciable depth for swimming and that dredging will go as far as African beach to pave the way for a boat cruise from any part of the country straight to the Riverside enclave.

Mr Prakash thanked the community for welcoming the idea and giving him the nod to commence the project and added that other sites such as beach road and other selected areas would follow suit.
