LEGON CITIES vs MEDEAMA

Accra based Legon Cities FC have produced abysmally in the early hours of the season. The lack of conviction and verve on the field has culminated in the dismissal of their Bosnian coach. The seemingly sterling additions and transfer business done just before the commencement of the season is yet to yield any results with a loss and a draw to show for all their efforts. Their new coach Bashir Hayford, despite his experience and tactical acumen, assumes a role which has no room for patience. His task is as arduous as the urgency of results.

The Tarkwa based giants will travel to Accra, where they are no strangers. Confidence will be on their side despite the absence of their past star men such as Prince Opoku Agyeman, who scored in their last game in Accra last season. Just as Legon Cities, they come into this game on the back of a defeat but will be confident that the point they garnered against Great Olympics on match day 1 will prove to be an upper hand as the hosts lost heavily against the latter.

LIBERTY PROFESSIONALS vs ELEVEN WONDERS

The Dansoman lads have picked up 2 points from the first two games of the season. The valuable away point in Elmina is proof of the infused grit which Linda Ansong, President of the side promised. Though the fluidity is not lost, they are yet to bang in multiple goals per game. Their stats read 2 games, 2 points and 2 goals scored; a stat which clearly needs improving.

Eleven Wonders are a team on the up after their draw against Kumasi Asante Kotoko – a game which could have easily gone their way. Coach Ignatius Osei Fosu is fast becoming the toast of the Ghanaian footballing fraternity with his tactical ingenuity. He did not succumb to Legon Cities’ overture to lure him to Accra, in anticipation that he can propel the Techiman based side to a respectable finish.

WAFA vs ELMINA SHARKS

After producing a cracker of a match against King Faisal in match day one, the Sogakope based Academy slumped to their first defeat of the season, succumbing to a one-nil loss against Bechem United. Away from home, WAFA have had mountains to surmount in terms of the quality of pitches. As true as it may be, WAFA need away performances to match their home form in order to qualify for places in continental competitions. They will count on Eric Asamany and Daniel Lomotey to bang in the goals and secure points.

Elmina Sharks may not have had the start that they desired. Two draws so far leaves them eighth on the league log. A trip to WAFA is one that sends chills to the spines of even footballing giants in the country. Coach Yaw Acheampong and his charges need to summon all the might they can to prevent any embarrassment on the artificial turf in Sogakope.

EBUSUA DWARFS vs BEREKUM CHELSEA

The Dwarfs from the Central Region will welcome the lads of Berekum on match day 3. Ebusua Dwarfs slumped to a defeat in their last outing against Eleven Wonders, despite a spirited performance. Amends will have to be made at home in Cape Coast. Coach Thompson is in hot waters after his outburst against referee Joshua Samadji in the game against Eleven Wonders. A response to a rattling week is needed immediately.

Berekum Chelsea have amassed 2 points from their opening games. That may look like a poor return until you consider the opponents they have faced. Asante Kotoko and a motivated Legon Cities team were no pushovers. Chelsea will travel without CEO Oduro Sarfo, whose influence on the team spanned almost a decade prior to his resignation this week. Historically, Chelsea have the upper hand against Dwarfs as they have beaten the latter in their last two encounters.

ADUANA STARS vs BECHEM UNITED

Luck was on the side of Aduana the last time around when they played King Faisal. A point was all they could take away from that game. They had to rely on experience after they were outplayed. They will need to grind out such results when the going gets tough. Yahaya Mohammed was on hand to deliver against their last opponent but will sit out this game due to injury. The next is a trickier prospect who will punish the fire boys for any lackluster display.

Bechem United themselves are unbeaten so far. Their displays are always promising and catch much attention. They were responsible for handing WAFA their first defeat of the season. They know how to respond to their opponents’ tactics. Coming into this game, they have been on the receiving end of more defeats (7) against their opponents. The absence of fans may be something that will do their chances some good.

KARELA vs DREAMS FC

Karela have outdoored a new stadium – the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park – will be the new home of Karela United. Against Dreams FC, they will seek to make an excellent impression at home. Diawise Taylor and his charges will be depended upon to continue the good early form the Anyinase based side is experiencing.

Dreams FC have also unveiled something new – jerseys. That will count for nothing if they do not fight for the badge in front of that jersey. Just like Karela, they have amassed 4 points from their opening two games. Their signings have proven to be the x-factor early in the season. And that is what makes the clash at Anyinase an overly exciting prospect. Goalkeeper Yaw Ansah was prominent in Karela’s last game against Inter Allies and will be a mountain to surmount if Dreams will take anything from the match.

INTER ALLIES vs HEARTS OF OAK

The all Accra encounter will see Inter Allies locking horns with Accra Hearts of Oak. Fortunately for both teams, they will not have to travel away from home. The loss away at Karela will have to be forgotten quickly by the home side. A response about their ambition in this season must be spearheaded by their coach Henrik Lehm and the playing body. Richard Seidu, Hashmin Musah, Desmond Abugua, Alex Aso, Richmond Lamptey, and Ivan Kpeglo will have to galvanize their colleagues to get a result against their hungry opponents.

Heart of Oak, who will be the away team in this instance will have travelled less compared to Inter Allies. Their 2-2 draw against Ashgold, which left them disappointed, is something they wish to put behind them. Patrick Razak and Kojo Obeng Junior will look to continue their heroics for the Phobians as they seek their first win this season. Coach Odoom bemoaned the lack of killer instinct in various parts of the match against Ashgold. Nothing but a win will appease their fans who await a premier league trophy after 11 years.
