KARELA UNITED FC VS KUMASI ASANTE KOTOKO

Karela are without a win in five league matches. That leaves them 17th on the league log. With two wins at home, Karela will look to improve their home record with a win against Kotoko. The last match between the two ended in a draw at Kumasi and they will be hoping to make home advantage count in this fixture.

Kotoko are two points away from the league’s top spot and will look to maintain the pressure on the league leaders. Momentum will be on the side of the porcupine warriors as they won their last match in style after defeating Bechem United at their adopted home ground, the Accra Sports Stadium. Consistency will be key for Kotoko if they are to challenge for the league title. There will plenty of action in this game as both teams have a lot to play for.

LEGON CITIES FC VS WAFA

The Royals, as they are known, will welcome WAFA in Accra on Friday evening to climax the Independence Day celebrations. After all the hive of activities about the celebrations, Legon Cities must make home advantage count in no small way. They are undefeated in their last five games albeit with four drawn games along the way. Building on that will go a long way to get their acts on the field match their ingenious methods of attempting to attract crowds to their games. With Baba Mahama, former Kotoko striker’s signature, they look on course to make amends.

WAFA are coming into the game in the highest of spirits after mauling Ashanti Gold by six goals to one in Sogakope. The masterclass meted out to the aboakese lads can be repeated in Accra if they come into the game with confidence from the last game. Their free flowing style of play has served them well as they sit 6th on the table with just 4 points from top spot.

ELMINA SHARKS VS LIBERTY PROFESSIONALS

Elmina Sharks have not had the best of seasons so far but have some positive points to recount. They sit 7th in the league and have victories over Medeama, Berekum Chelsea and Inter Allies to boast of. Their spirited 1-1 draw in the capital against Hearts of Oak showed glimpses of a team which will remain in the league this season. Three wins in their last five games is testament to their quality.

The scientific soccer lads have proven to be at their inconsistent best this season. With two wins in the last five games, a trip to a stoic Elmina Sharks team isn’t one that they would fancy. That notwithstanding, they have as many wins as the Sharks and will seek to replicate performances against Aduana Stars, where they walloped the latter by five goals to two on match day 10.

ACCRA GT. OLYMPICS VS EBUSUA DWARFS

The wonder club is still struggling to drift further away from the relegation zone. They are only separated by a lone goal difference from the drop zone. Though that is a precarious position to be in, a fixture at home can be a pedestal for improvement as two of their three wins this season have come from home.

Ebusua Dwarfs have been a tricky customer away from home. They lie just below Olympics and will do their chances of remaining in the league if they can get anything from the grueling relegation battle in Accra. Their trip to Accra has so far proved to be futile as they succomed to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Accra Hearts of Oak. If that fixture was exciting, then nothing less can be expected from a game against a fellow relegation threatened side.

KING FAISAL BABES FC VS MEDEAMA SC

Struggling Kumasi based King Faisal are sitting at the bottom of the league with just 5 points, 2 points from their last 5 games. Their conundrum is quite surprising as they have amassed a total of 16 goals, 1 more than league leaders and opponents for the match day, Medeama. Their foible is the concession of goals. A disturbing total of 27 goals have been shipped in since the onset of the premier league. Much of the time, their good work up front is heavily undone by the inattentive and below par defending.

The league leaders will be expected to dispatch bottom side, King Faisal. Theirs may not be a blistering record of successive wins. Undoubtedly, they are amongst the best so far this season and will not want a chink in their armor to come from an underwhelming opponent. Prince Opoku Agyeman will seek to add to his tally of 9 goals on away soil.

ADUANA STARS FC VS ASHANTIGOLD FC

Dormaa will be the venue of this mouthwatering clash between the 2nd and 5th placed teams. Aduana Stars are coming back from a convincing 1-0 win in Dawu against Dreams FC. That spirited performance was inspired by Isaac Kwain’s free kick late in that game. Aduana put the painful exit from the FA Cup behind them and will seek to consolidate their place amongst the top teams with a home win.

Ashanti Gold on the other hand were on the wrong side of fortune when they visited WAFA. They shipped in six goals and scored just one and Dormaa is the last place they would want to visit after a demoralizing display. AshGold will have to go with the mentality of having nothing to lose. With that in mind, they are likely to cause problems rather than sit back and hold AshGold.

BECHEM UNITED FC VS DREAMS FC

Bechem United were taught a bitter lesson in Accra by Kumasi Asante Kotoko when their early lead counted for nothing after Kotoko came back to win the game by 3 goals to 1. The quality they faced was a notch above them. That notwithstanding, the encouraging play by the team, which saw them bundle out Aduana Stars from the FA Cup will be needed yet again to dash any hopes of Dreams FC who will play as the visitors.

Dreams FC have not had things go their way recently. They lie 13th in the table, have lost three of their last four games and are desperately looking for a win. Bechem will be a daunting proposition which they will have to face head on.

ELEVEN WONDERS FC VS BEREKUM CHELSEA

Eleven Wonders drew blank in their last game which was against Legon Cities FC as they went on to win a point away from home. This time around, they will play host to Berekum Chelsea who started the season with some breathtaking results. The Techiman outfit sit at just 4 points off the relegation places and must make home advantage count. With just 7 points from a possible 15 and 2 from the last two, amends will have to be made.

The Berekum contingent sit in third position and on the same points as the 1st and 2nd placed teams in Medeama and Aduana Stars respectively. Opportunity beckons for them to climb to the top if any of their fellow table toppers fail to win. With their eyes on the next fixtures (Legon Cities and WAFA), which should be relatively easy, the trip to Techiman should be one that they will seek to wrest all 3 points from Eleven Wonders.

INTER ALLIES VS ACCRA HEARTS OF OAK

The Accra Sports Stadium will once again see some action as Inter Allies play as Hosts to Accra Hearts of Oak. Both teams cannot boast of convincing consistency as their form guides show. Inter Allies have won 2, drawn 2 and lost 1 in their last five games and their over-reliance on Nigerien Victorien Adebayor is beginning to show. On a good day, he and the team are blistering and eye catching. If they can discover their mojo against Hearts, they should be victorious.

Hearts will be unfazed by the tag that they are the away team as they play at the same location they call home. Their fans have been left frustrated and questioning whether the trophy hunt will continue after this season. Their form does not aptly align with a title winning brand but that can change with a win over Inter Allies who are no push overs. Fans will definitely be treated to some great football.
