On Monday, 8th November 2021, Police stormed a mining site to arrest some people. A man, who is currently feared dead, attempted to flee from the police for allegedly engaging in illegal mining.
He got drowned in a pit at Akrokeri in the Adansi North in the Ashanti region after an attempt to escape and he has not been found after several hours of search.
The residents in retaliation reportedly vandalized the Akrokeri police station and the Queen mother’s house.
Charles Obeng an Assemblymember for Akrokei Fie Electrol Area said they have deployed some men in search of the alleged illegal miner and they are waiting for responses
