DEFENDING CHAMPIONS DROP POINTS ON HOME TURF.

The Ghana Premier League has returned with promise of massive excitement. Connoisseurs of the local game were treated to 17 goals across all match centers following Game Week one’s fixtures, with four matches ending in a tie. One of these games took place at the Accra Sports Stadium, where Legon Cities held defending champions, Hearts of Oak to a thrilling draw.

Eric Ofori Antwi, goalkeeper for Legon Cities, was the last line of defense for his team as they held the defending Champions to a goalless draw in the first match of the new season. After an outstanding performance in post, he deserved to be named Man of the Match.

The former Medeama goalkeeper was extra motivated in goal against the Phobians, making six impressive saves to keep the score even at the end of the game.

It was a well-earned point for Legon Cities, who will be looking to improve on their performance from last season. A point against the defending champions in the season’s first game is a good place to start. Next up for them is at home game against Real Tamale United, one of the new boys in the league. This could be the ideal opportunity for Coach Maxwell Konadu and his team to kick off their season with a win.
