The West African Examination Council (WAEC) says it will not allow any mathematical sets but the Scientific Mathematical Instruments procured by Government in examination halls from henceforth.
Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, Agnes Teye Cudjoe told wenomedia.com this is to eliminate examination malpractices during exams.
There has been some objections from the Minority in Parliament as to whether securing math sets is a priority at a time when the country needs money to fight COVID-19. The Minority also raised questions about value for money, given that government is giving the supplier some $3.2 million tax waiver.
Nevertheless, government has already awarded a contract to Messrs Bluegrass Group Limited to supplier 853,009 units of Kapek Scientific Math Sets for the upcoming WASSCE and all subsequent WAEC exams.
